When packing for an international trip the last thing most people think about is a phone card. After all, there are many important things to remember like passports and plane tickets but one of the most useful things on an international trip may be a phone card. One of the first things most people want to do when they reach a foreign country is call home. International hotels know this and typically charge an exorbitant rate for international phone calls. A couple of short international calls from a hotel can cost as much as the room. Save time, hassles and money by packing a couple international phone cards.
- It is a great way to budget money for phone calls since phone cards are prepaid and can be purchased in small denominations.
- Phone cards can be used from nearly any phone in more than 130 countries worldwide. They can be used to make low cost calls from pay phones in airports, hotels or nearly any major city in the world.
- It may be difficult to purchase phone cards over the internet while overseas. Most on line phone card merchants have sophisticated fraud protection programs that often make it difficult or impossible to purchase a phone card with a credit card when in a foreign country.
Remember to purchase high quality phone cards and check to be sure they will work from the countries being visited. This is easy to do if the phone cards are purchased from a reputable on line merchant.
One last tip, if you are planning an international trip this summer, have fun and don’t forget to call home.
